From here, there are wonderful views of the Soča River, Solkan, Nova Gorica, Gorizia and, on a clear day, as far as the Gulf of Trieste.
The final part of the route features a demanding and technical descent along a forest singletrack and an old military mule track towards the Primula restaurant. From there, approximately one kilometre of gentler terrain remains before runners reach the finish area at the Solkan Kayak Centre.

Route
GO Trim on Mt Škabrijel – 13+ km | 760 m+
Technical Route Description
The race starts at the Solkan Kayak Centre, situated next to the Soča River. Immediately after the start, the route follows the river and takes runners beneath the arches of the Solkan bridges. The entire course includes only approximately one kilometre of asphalt. After climbing towards the centre of Solkan, runners continue past the church to the underpass beneath the Solkan bypass. Here, the route turns sharply right and begins to climb towards Mt Škabrijel. The asphalt soon gives way to a forest singletrack leading to the first refreshment station at Vratca, located at approximately the 6 km mark. The climb towards the summit is intense and requires good physical fitness and sound trail-running technique. Some sections are steep, and part of the route passes through historic trenches dating back to the First World War. During the ascent, magnificent panoramic views open up across the Gorizia region and the surrounding mountains. The highest point of the route is the summit of Mt Škabrijel, situated 646 metres above sea level. A steel observation tower stands at the summit and, on a clear day, offers views stretching as far as Mt Triglav. The route then continues along the ridge of Mt Škabrijel and follows a forest singletrack towards Preval. At approximately the 9 km mark, runners reach the second refreshment station at Belvedere TCS, which offers magnificent views of the Soča River, Solkan, Nova Gorica, Gorizia and the Gulf of Trieste. A technically demanding descent follows, taking runners along forest trails, across rocky and root-covered terrain and down an old military mule track. During the descent, a beautiful view of the emerald-green Soča River opens up on the right-hand side. At the end of the descent, near the Primula restaurant, the route enters a gentler section that passes the tennis courts. The final kilometre leads runners back to the finish area at the Solkan Kayak Centre, where a well-earned medal and an unforgettable finish-line experience await them.
